Folic Acid for Pregnancy

Folic acid contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. Supplementation with folic acid also increases maternal folate status, with low maternal folate status being a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus.

The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily supplemental intake of 400µg folic acid for at least one month before and up to three months after conception.

Iron & Normal Blood Formation

Pregnacare Max contains iron, which contributes to normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin. Iron also contributes to normal oxygen transport in the body and reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

Vitamin D & Calcium Support

Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth and supports the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus.

Omega-3 DHA

The capsule component provides DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid. Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal brain and eye development of the foetus and breastfed infants. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 200mg DHA in addition to the recommended daily intake of 250mg DHA and EPA.

Iodine During Pregnancy

Iodine contributes to normal thyroid function and normal energy-yielding metabolism. It also contributes to normal cognitive function and supports normal neurological development in children.
